2007 2000 interchange?

I have been moving the pst file from one computer to another to keep my
Outlook 2000 current on different computers. Actually, this has been
working pretty well for several years as it brings mail, contacts, calendar
etc along.

The trouble is that now one of my computers is running Vista and I am using
Windows Mail on it.

If I got Outlook 2007 for the Vista machine could I transfer the pst files
back and forth with a machine running XP and Outlook 2000? The critical
issue is "back", as I want to be able to use Outlook 2007 on the Vista
machine for a while and be able to get everything back on the XP-Outlook
2000 machine.

It's not recommended, but should work ok if you use the outlook 2000 pst
with outlook 2007. A pst created in outlook 2007 will not work in 2000.
However, outlook 2007 adds additional properties to the messages and using
the old pst can cause issues on both machines. Personally, I would look for
a different solution for sharing the data on both machines.

Sounds like I can not get data from Outlook 2007 back into Outlook 2000.

What might a different solution be? Any third party programs that will put
the information into a common format?

I wish Microsoft would create Windows Mail for XP since I am more
comfortable with having the messages stored as separate files instead of
having everything in one giant file but I know this is not going to happen.

I believe the new windows live mail client works on windows xp. I like it
better than Mail as it includes spell checking as you type even if office
isn't installed. See http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview. It doesn't really
solve your sharing problem though.

You could export from outlook 2007 to an ansi pst. There are also 3rd party
tools - see http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.asp
