loading/moutning any drives seems to cause windows to reboot

everytime i pop in a cd or eject a cd windows reboots. if i plug in a
USB drive windows goes into an infinate reboot. can anyone help?

Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom) section. In the Startup
and Recovery window click on the checkbox for "Automatically restart"
to clear it, then click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

Now try putting in a CD and see what happens. It should no longer
reboot but you may instead get a Blue Screen Of Death STOP error. If
that happens then the content of the error message will be a direct
clue as to the cause of the problem. Post the information from the
error message, including any STOP code (plus all 4 parameters) and
file or module names, back here if you need assistance with that.
