There is a shareware DriverGuide Toolkit which lists all the drivers on
your PC and their versions. I dont know whether it can also look whether
there are new versions on the web.

Is there a freeware than can list the drivers and their versions on your
PC ?

Two of the programs have been omitted one of the links is bad and the
one remaining won't work with Windows 9x or ME

Bad hair day? ;) NR (not recommended) programs are shown to warn people and links are omitted
intentionally. The links to the other 4 apps are working here. That includes the 2005 PL program
which is hosted by our own Burnr. . .

Winret is a 0 byte file

So it seems. I tried the web.archive, and there found:

http://web.archive.org/web/20031204042216/http://winret.sourceforge.net/Files/WinRetEn4.7.exe

but this gives you a install that says "obsolete version, do you want
to get the latest" (or something similar). If Yes, it opens browser
and takes you to

http://winret.sourceforge.net/downloads.html

wich offers a LITE version:

Ver. Language Date Size Comment
5.0lite English 02.05.2005 345.719 Lite version

URLs
WinRet5.0Lite.exe
http://winret.sourceforge.net/Files/WinRet5.0Lite.exe

Downloaded and installed fine, but I have not explored it to figure
out what "lite" version means in this case,

All the best

See you at the hairdresser Winret is a 0 byte file

The Source Forge "home page" link: http://winret.sourceforge.net/
has a link to an offsite DL page: http://asperus.com/downloads.html
WinRet v 5.0 (17.07.2005) (345.720 KB) http://asperus.com/WinRet/DownloadWinRet.php
the "DL" link redirects to: http://asperus.com/exe/WinRet5.0Lite.exe

that's the Liteware version. . .

I'll have my nails done too while you download the file. . .

See the "projects" link: http://asperus.com/products.html on his S.F. home page.

<q>
WinRet is a program for tune up Windows and Internet Explorer, also this program backs up and
restores system Registry, program Settings and Preferences, Shortcuts, Favorites, Drivers, Internet
Explorer Settings, History, Cookies and typed Urls and much more. For your convenience the program
supports automatic backup/restore mode.

I don't see the source code anywhere. Looks to me like the author is playing games with Source Forge.

Thanks. Reading the licence at
<http://asperus.com/WinRet/WinRetLicense.html>, it simply says buying
a licence will

"support work on future versions, new features and bug fixes and
will provide you with technical support via email during one
year beginning from the registration date."

From this then, if correct, Lite only means no support, otherwise
fully featured version.... I guess an attempt to try out all the
features will tell - if anything is disabled in the lite version, or
if nag screens will appear. Or say - if it expires after some time.
Licence published on the web page does not indicate it will...
Only one way to find out for sure I guess...:)

All the best,
Bjorn Simonsen
