Linux as client to MS VPN

G

Guy Rouillier

According to the Microsoft site for Win2K/XP VPN, this is the
newsgroup for discussing the VPN capability built-in to Win2K/XP. We
are currently deploying this VPN solution where I work (switching from
CheckPoint), and connecting from home Win2k Pro box through a Linksys
DSL Router was completely painless - nice job. Now I'd like to try to
get Linux, which I multi-boot from the same system, connected to that
same VPN. I read on the Microsoft site that their VPN is
standards-based. Should I be able to make this connection from Linux?
If so, is anyone aware of a cookbook that would guide me through this
process?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Guy,

PPTP is defined in an informational RFC 2637 and Microsoft PPTP conforms to
this RFC. The server side shouldn't require any changes for any standards
based client. you should be able to set up your Linux PPTP client and make
a connection without a problem if the client software is standards based.

Thanks,
Marc Reynolds
