Linksys Router disconnects constantly

M

Martin Murray

I have a Linksys WRTP54G router. I'm running multiple wireless devices from
it plus 3 wired PCs.

Recently it has started to provide totally unstable wired connections. The
PCs are constantly complaining that "A Network Cable is Unplugged".
Sometimes it comes right back, other times not. This happens on all the
wired PCs, while the wireless connections remain totally stable.

I've tried power-cycling the router, re-ordering the connectors, unplugging
various PCs, switching out the actual cabling, resetting the computers,
resetting the cable modem, etc. I have no idea what precipitated this,
either.

I can't see any setting in the config labeled "Provide Intermittent Wired
Connectivity"! Help please!

Thanks in advance,

Martin Murray

Sounds like it's time to replace the router. They don't last forever.

I ended up "solving" the problem by reducing the speed on all the NICs to
10baseT full duplex. That gives connectivity to my PCs, albeit pretty slow.
I tried 100 but it would not connect at all.

This sounds like a problem with your cables or the router, but it is
NOT related to the OS and as such the post is out of place HERE.

Ask elsewhere

Your question is welcome here (unlike Gurney, who most certainly isn't).

You just don't get it. I can't decide if it's stubborness on your
part that won't let you admit you are WRONG or you being just plain
ignorant.

What part of the group TITLE do you problems understanding?

Just because a concensus decides something does not make it so. You
may live with many others on a road who decide that the speed limit is
to slow, so you all decide to just make it faster. Do you think that
would stop you getting a ticket? Of course not. Just because the
concensus here decided ANY hardware question is OK does not make it
correct - READ THE FLIPPIN' GROUP TITLE. Hardware questions that are
RELATED to WINDOWSXP.

Also, you keep stating that I am being a netcop and need to shut up
and quit posting. That makes YOU a netcop, and a HYPOCRIT.

The only RIGHT person around here is me as well. Of course YOU can't
see that. Those conviced of their "rightness" such as you can never
see the other side.

Do you have problems with simple comprehension? Of course you must have.
It has been repeatedly pointed out that this is an almost universally
accepted posting place for anything hardware related. The only person who
won't accept that is you. That makes you wrong no matter how convinced that
you are right. But as has been pointed out that is a classic symptom of
mental illness (which is what you have). A single obsession that you just
will not let go of.

Your repetitive posts are not welcome. Don't post them anywhere.

You are not right. I say your not right. Several people have specifically
said that you are no right. In fact as far as I can see, nobody here has
ever agreed that you are right. Ergo, you are wrong, no matter how right
you might like to think you are.

Your total contribution to this newsgroup has only ever been the same
repetitive obsessive posts, though under varying names (and we all know why
you do that). You really are a complete mental case.

Yawn. You bore me.
