Links to documents?

Linn Kubler

Hi,

We are using Outlook 2003 with an Exchange backend. We are using public
folders and have created a contact type folder. In this folder we have one
contact that we want to link to a file located on the network.

If I insert the file it works but then the file is embeded in the contact
and modifications to it aren't reflected in the file on the network. If I
try to instert a shortcut it just doesn't work, I get a warning message
about files possibly containing a virus. (this method used to work in
Outlook 2000)

Question is, how can I accomplish this? I want to have a link to a document
on our network so that when someone modifies the document the changes are
saved on the network automatically?

I tried inserting a hyperlink but that looks confusing to many of my users
and people sometimes alter the link unintentionally breaking it. If this is
my only option, how can I give the link a nicer name, or better still, link
it to an image?

Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for your help,
Linn

A file hyperlink is your best option in Outlook 2003. You cannot give it "a nicer name."

Hi Sue,

I was afraid you were going to say that.

Thanks,
Linn
