hyperlinks in a spreadsheet don't work when sent as attachment

An Excel 2003 on a network share has embedded hyperlinks to other documents
on the same network share. links work fine when opening the s/sheet on the
share, but when the s/sheet is sent as an Outlook 2003 attachment, getting a
"cannot open the specified file" msg.

Have you checked if the links were still correct and reachable for the
recipient?
If the links are relative, then they work only from the network location.
Use absolute links instead.
For more information ask in an Excel newsgroup as the actual attachment
didn't get changed.
