Links from Excel

I am having a nightmare trying to keep my links formatted! No matter what I
do the whole 60 page document keeps on auto updating (even when I go to the
links window and set everthing to manual) the links keep on updating and the
formatting is changed! please help.
 
Toggle the link (ALT+F9) and replace the \*mergeformat switch (if any) with
a \*charformat switch.
