How do I lock in formatting in Word from linked Excel data?

Greta

I have linked data from a specific cell in Excel to Word. When I Update
Link, the table I created in Word auto-formats to include carraige returns
before and after the number. Now the entire report in Word, using tables to
help preserve page layout, has been altered. How do I lock the Word table
cells so that it accepts the linked Excel data without altering the row
height (extra carraige returns)? PLS HELP!

Hi Greta,

If the unwanted carriage returns are in the excel data, the only course open to you is to modify the data in Excel.

Alternatively, if the problem is that the link is inserting unwanted CRs at the end of each group of records, you may find one of
the other link formats (eg plain text) is better suited to your needs.
