Linking cells on two worksheets shuts Excel Down

Whenever I try to start a formula in a cell on a worksheet (tab), as soon as
I click on the tab i want to retrieve the data from Excel shuts down.

You are running Excel 2003 SP3 and

The worksheet in which you are entering the formula has frozen panes,



Check to see if your computer has been updated with Security patch KB973475. This will cause what you describe. I read the MS documentation at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973475 and the thread at http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431416.



I removed the patch as discussed in the thread and renamed C:\Documents and Settings\<>\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\excel11.xlb. I restarted Excel and have not had any problems.
