I have inserted a link in excel to a powerpoint file. When I click the link,
it runs the presentation. What I wan to do is open the powerpoint file for
editing. How do I configure the link to do this?

This is a little weird, I know. Don't ask me, I didn't code it.

Create a shortcut to the your PowerPoint presentation(PPT). In Excel, link
to the shortcut (filename will show on the hyperlink warning as a .lnk
extension) and PowerPoint will open in Edit mode -- link directly to the
PPT file and PowerPoint will open in a Show mode.

This may vary from machine to machine according to the individual system's
associations and the links may not carry from one machine to another, but
this should get you started.
