Link to email still won't update when published

I posed this question earlier. I have a shared border at the bottom of the pages in my web site. In that shared border is my email addy. Originally when constructing the site, I put a generic email addy and am now trying to update it. Whenever i change it in FrontPage, (and I do verify that it is changed on every page) and then publish it to web...every single thing on the site changes except for the email addy. I did what Steve suggested (thank you) and delete my cache files...still didn't work, I republished after that and then did the cntrl refresh and republished....still won't change

Andy further suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks!

Do a complete publish instead of change pages only, and see it that fixes
it.

Nicole,

Did you use a template to create your page, and did you use the Wizard
when you used the template?? If so you will need to PUBLISH ENTIRE WEB
again instead of just PUBLISHING UPDATES.

Good Luck,
Carl

Perhaps your host has a server cache policy, whereby the updates won't show
for a period of time? You might check with them.

Is this by any chance your home page that
won't update??

If so try renaming the local copy to index.html
and then publishing.

Thank you all so much

Unfortunately, still won't work. It is my home page as well as every other page. I did the index suggestion as well as the Publish entire web suggestion several times. I did check with my server and got this response

"I don¬t have any suggestions to your shared border issue, sorry"

I am really at a loss. The changes still show as being made in my local frontPage workings, but on the web that email address (and only that) will not change when published. Again, it is in a shared border and I have verified that it is changed on every single page

Here is a URL if anyone wants to look: www.parchmentpublishing.com/index.htm the email at the bottom of the screen should read: (e-mail address removed)

But, I should mention that the email GOES to the right addy it just won't update the display of the proper address although it reads correctly in FP

Any ideas?

Thanks again for all of your suggestions! I'll be back later with a form problem...but one at a time! LOL

Hello...I write a bit disheartened

I have tried everything that has been suggested. And I do appreciate all of the great suggestions. I even went so far as to go into the folders on the server and manually change the way the email address would read on every single page. Took almost two hours. It did make the change

But, when I published again...and I made sure that everything was as it should be so that nothing that I had done locally would override what I had done through the server...(Not sure if I am using the right words, but hopefully you know what I mean) and then I published selecting the option "Determine changes by comparing source and destination webs." Well, all of the changes I had made reverted back to the original problem that I have been having.

I am at a complete loss. As you can tell this is far beyond my understanding...any thoughts?

Open your online web in FP and check that the changes are there
(File Open Web/Site and enter your URL as http://www.yoursitename.com/)
If they are, your host is caching pages
- or if using AOL as an ISP they cache pages for several days

I recommended over the weekend that she check with the host to see if they
cache pages. Guess she didn't ;-)

Some other good suggestions here but have you tried viewing it locally? Either us the "Preview in Browser" button or just open IE and manually go to your page on your Hard Drive. You should be able to view it just like it's online but you'll see everything as soon as you click SAVE and you don't have to keep publishing every time

If it looks correct when you view it locally and then you publish ALL and it doesn't look right live, then it's got to be something with the server or host

You can also go to IE and check..

Tools, Internet Options, Settings, and set the "Check for newer versions of the page" to Every Visit or Automatically

Also, what's the URL so we can see if we see the old or new address?

I wonder if she tried Recalculating Hyperlinks, then republish?

I've had this happen to me, only it wasn't quite as persistant.
What I did was delete the offending link(s) on the local copy. Recalc. Republish. - without the links.

Then redo all the local links...and recalc...republish.
That fixed it for me.

I did check with the host about caching pages and they have yet to get back to me on it. I'll let you know though. :

I will look through all of these suggestions...surely something will work. Is it possible to have a haunted web site? lo

Thanks again for all of the help...I am sure I'll be back for something

Thanks to everyone who helped out on this one. I really appreciate all of your thought and time

It finally worked. I am not quite sure what finally did it...but I did several things. I actually went into the server and deleted all of the folders and then went into FP and republished without the link there. Then I added it back in and recalculated. It is now correctly showing the right link.

I learned a lot on this one! As I am sure you can tell....I am learning FP by the help button and this list. This is all new to me
Thanks again to everyone! I'll be baaaaack! :
