Link Bar Buttons

Using themes, I create a link bar, with buttons to pages
on the same level. Among the buttons created is one that
refers to the page itself. Why would FrontPage put out a
button hyperlink to the page you were on - and more
importantly, how do I get rid of it? I need the space.

If it's on the Same Level it's gonna show you all pages on same level.
Go to Navigation and move the pages around to the way you want them.
