Home Page Not Showing in Navigation Buttons

K

KathyL

I am almost ready to publish our website but need some help. The home page
does not show with the navigation buttons. There are a couple of pages under
the Home Page that do not have any navigation buttons and say [Edit the
properties for this link bar to display hyperlinks here]. The Link Bar
properties shows child level and home page selected.

Thanks very much,

1) make sure you home page file is the same filename a that required by your online host (usually index.htm or default.htm, etc)
2) in navigation view make sure your correct home page has the home icon in it
(you can right click the file in folder list to make it the home page)

Hi Stefan,

The home page name is index.htm and the title is Home. In Folder view, the
icon has a pointer on it. In navigation view the home page does not have any
special icon. When I right click the file in the folder list, I do not see an
option to make it the home page. What should I try next?

That option to Set as home page is only in the context menus in FP 2003 (and I believe FP 2002)
Find out which page in folder list does have the home icon in it
(probably not index.htm)
- Drag it onto your nav view and it should have the home icon in it
(drag your other pages under it)
Now copy the content (best done in code view) from index.htm into the home page file
- delete index.htm
- rename the home page file to index.htm and republish

I have FP 2002 and couldn't figure out why none of the pages had the home
icon. I followed your instructions below and created a new page and it popped
onto the navigation view with the home icon on it. I dragged my other pages
under it, copied the home page code onto the new home page and deleted the
old home page. The problem was......my original home page was not at the root
of the website. It was in another sub-folder along with all the web pages. I
got rid of the sub-folder and moved everything up under the root. For my
navigation buttons to show up and work on each page I need to go through each
of them to change the location. I'll let you know if that doesn't work.

Thank you so much for your instructions and help! I am very grateful.
