"Single" spacing allows the amount of space required by the largest
character on a line. If you use a character from a different font, which may
have a different amount of leading built in, or increase the font size of
one or more characters, the spacing can vary. To ensure uniform line
spacing, you have to set it to Exactly a certain amount. As a guideline, the
default Single spacing for Times New Roman is approximately 120% of the
nominal point size (for example, 12 points for 10-point text). The default
Single spacing will be different for other fonts.
