limited access problem

Here's the deal. The computer that we use at work is
annoying. Or rather, the computing services ppl have made
it that way. It is set up so that we have the appearance
of freedom. We can do whatever we want (save for changing
the time), but as soon as the computer is rebooted, it
reverts to the way they've set it up. Meaning we can't
update AIM (an essential I know) among other things.
There is the Thawspace or T drive where if we save things
there they don't disappear. Now, I've talked to the
director here and she doesn't have the password...ah
wait, how it's set up. We sign in under username BSU with
no password. There is no password set up for the BSU
account. And under user profiles, BSU is stated as a
computer administrator, so we can do what we want. But
what I'm looking for is a way to change the settings so
that everything doesn't revert back when the computer is
restarted. The system restore option is turned off so
that's no help. And it's a huge long process to get
computing services down here to change it...it could
possibly take a few months or more. So, if anyone has any
suggestions as to what I could do in this situation, I'd
be ever so greatful. Thank you for your time!

This was apparently done by design by your system administrators. If you
want this kind of access, you need the permission of the people who set it
up this way.
