license question for office 2007 & vista

My son got a copy of office 2007 pro and vista32 upgrade from university
bookstore. They were cheap but he was allowed to buy only one set. Office
went on his desktop(with the vista32) and on his laptop (xp) and was
activated just fine. Vista32 (student upgrade version) is not running good
on his old desktop because of memory limits and I gave him my core 2 duo
with vista64 but it does not have office. Can he uninstall office from the
old desktop and then put it on the new system or can we just install it a
3rd time and explain what happened.

Your son needs to uninstall Office from the old desktop and then install it
on the newer one. He will likely have to activate it via the phone as
Internet activation will probably complain that he has exceeded the number
of activations...but it will be OK when he explains what happened and what
he did.
