License expire in 2 days

I have a Win2000 Terminal server, with 5 licenses. Recently when one of the
users log on, it says "license will expire in 5 days". This happens only on
one user.
Will this user have problems logging on in 5 days ?
What can I do to solve this problem ??

Check your TS Licensing Manager.
Sounds like you don't have enough TS CALs.

TS CALs are on W2K are always Per Device.

Hi Idar, the answer to your question lies the O/S the user is using. What has
happened is that the clients machine has received a temporary license and
when it expires it will either get another temp license or a permanant one,
but that is determined by the o/s. if the user is using 2000 or XP it will
more than likely get a permanant license, if he is using 98 or below then he
will probaly receive another temp license. overall the user will still be
able to work.

That's not correct, MonteBratschi!
A client can only *once* receive a temporary TS CAL. When it
expires, the client will be refused.

Idar, the 5 licenses you talk about are probably the licenses that
came with the server, correct? Those are normal server CALs, not TS
CALs.
What you have to do is:

1. install and activate a TS Licensing Server on your Domain
Controller
2. If you clients run W2K Pro or XP Pro, you don't have to do
anything else, since these clients will receive a free TS CAL from
the TS Licensing Server
3. If you have other clients, you need to buy and install TS CALs
on te TS Licensing Server.

You miss the point, MonteBratschi.
Regardless if TS Licensing is in place or not, a client can not
receive a second temporary license, and the client will be refused
after expiration of the temporary license.

So your statement:
was incorrect under all assumptions.

I felt it was important to point this out, to avoid that the
original poster gets into trouble by not doing anything.

I'm sorry if you can't handle such a correction!
