lexmark Z82 scanner

I have installed drivers, firmware, updates, changed the DOS, and the scanner
is still somewhere out there because it is not working. My basic question is:

There is a port on the back that looks like a usb port. Do I need a cord for
that port to attach to the computer? The HP is new and the printer is not. If
not, would someone please help me get it working?
 
Go to the Lexmark website, find and download the user manual for the all in
one unit and check the installation method.
