Lexmark Z600

I have a malfunctioning Lexmark Z600, and hope someone can give me a
clue as to what to do. I've had this little printer for some time now,
and it's worked. Can't say it's been great, but it's been working.
Recently, it started doing something very unusual when I turn it on.
The cartridge will leap from one side to the other, and then stop, with
the cartridge on the left side of the printer. The light on the power
button will then flash twice, and do nothing. if i turn it off and
then on again, the cartridge will shoot back to the right, and then
shoot to the left again, and repeat the same process.

i've looked along the cartridge track, and it appears as though the way
is clear. not entirely sure what is going on... any help?

The usual suggestion is to look for a thin strip of plastic attached to
the guide rail which has come loose. The markings on it help the printer
know where the cartridges are. Press it back into place and see if the
problem disappears.

This works with a number of printers, may or may not work with yours.
