Lexmark X5250 W/18C0031/32/33 cartridge

Lexmark X5250 W/18C0031/32/33 cartridges

OK .. The Lexmark 18C0031/32/33 cartridges refilled just fine and print
OK...

But the Lexmark X5250 uses automatic sensor to align the cartridges and I
can not get the printer to sense a "new" [refilled] cartridge as being
installed....

Do I need to do a "TAPE" trick like the some of the 'HP' cartridges? IF so
how should it be taped?

This is all at the printer level [LCD Display] and not on the
computer/software driver level.

I'm having the same experience with Lexmark X85, color cartridge 20
(15MO120) new cartidge empties, drill & refill, but refilled cartridge is
not recognized to be installed. The black 70 (15MO0170) refills and is
recognized.

Anyone know a work around, or access to quality but less expensive
cartridges?

Larry -
To my knowledge the X85 is software driven at the PC...
If this is correct then you might want to check out PC software setting and
if after changing it to the correct cartridge and the cartridge still does
not print the cartridge in question has most likely been burned out and has
to be replaced.

Thanks David: I didn't check the settings but twice I've purchased a new
cartridge and they were recognized immediately. Each cartridge was not
recognized after drilling and refilling the first time. Bad luck or
coincidence I haven't had any success in refilling the 15MO120 cartridge.

I use to own a Z45 which used the same cartridge and I refilled it over
twenty time with no troubles with the printer seeing the cartridge as being
reinstalled and printing correctly.

The only reason that I no longer have the Z45 and now have a X5250.. the
Z45's print head belt broke on me...

No the things that I can think of are:
[1] You over filled the cartridge and 'INK' is getting all over the
cartridge contacts... "_ALWAYS_" draw off a small amount of ink from each
color after filling to balance out the presure inside of the cartridge!
[2] You ran the cartridge dry before refilling allowing the electrical
contacts to over heat and burn out..
[3] The electrical contacts were damp when you reinserted the cartridge in
the printer and shorted out the electronics on the cartridge.

Good Luck!

It seems that every 18C0031/32/33 cartridge has a serial number.

The question now is...
Can the serial number be changed...
_-OR-_
How many serial numbers are stored in the printer and or how can a person
clear the stored serial numbers on the printer?

I have a Z816 printer. It uses the same 32/33 cartrdiges. Would you
mind share your experience on how you get your 32/33 catridges
refilled?

Currently I use a basic refill set from my local 'SAMS' store from:
http://www.stratitec.com/

1: Peal back label
2: Using injector remove a small amount of ink from each chamber of the
cartridge
3: Dump removed ink into trash
4: Remove plunger
5: Insert injector into cartridge chamber
6: Fill with 5cc of ink
7: _S_l_o_w_l_y_ replace plunger and inject about 4cc of ink or until a
small amount of ink comes out of top of cartridge
[DO NOT ALLOW ANY AIR TO BE INJECTED BACK INTO THE CARTRIDGE]
8: Using injector remove about 0.5 to 1cc of ink from cartridge to 'balance
internal pressure of cartridge.
9: Blot (with dry paper towel) print head till correct colors are displayed
10: Tape over cartridge holes.. leaving the end of venting channel open.
(I use old paper address label stock cut to size)
11: Reinstall into printer and run test pages.
12: Clean tools for use next time.

_B_U_T_!!
Due to these cartridges have a serial number your printer 'might not' show a
'new {refilled}' cartridge as being installed.... But at least on my X5250
it will keep printing after the LOW INK warning.
