response time for this tft is 25ms..around 15-16 is best for games.15" is a
bit small too..17" is affordable..benq 767 for instance.

Hi all
I am thinking of buying a Viewsonic VG510b LCD monitor
Are these any good? or can someone suggest a better monitor?
I will be using it for basic desktop stuff and the occasional game. I
know CRTs are generally better for games
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Ok, you've gotten lots of answers so far, but not the correct one.
Viewsonic is a great brand. If you think you will be happy with it, you
probably will. Go for it. -Dave

Mark,

I have a VE510 (15")and a VX900 (19") and I love these monitors. Both have
brilliant colors and are crystal clear. My only other LCD monitor is an
Envision 7100 and it can't compare to the Viewsonics. I'm not a gamer but their
reputation is very good, although a quality CRT would probably be a better
choice for an avid game player.

I don't think that you will be disappointed by a Viewsonic.

Hi all
Thanks for all the info, its a great help
I will only use the monitor on the weekends so the size is not overly
important, I have a 19" CRT on my main system I can use for games and
everything else. The LCD will be for a second system to use for a few hours
here and there mostly on weekends. Therefore I don't want to spend to much
money getting a 17" model
I think I will get the Viewsonic monitor but I am still open to suggestions
Thanks again

Hi:

I recently bought a Samsung SynchMaster 21" 213T TFT. Very pleased
with it.
My first choice was a ViewSonic VP211b but I couldn't find stock
anywhere at the time and the delivery date was iffy.
I am a long time and well satisfied user of ViewSonics.
I still have a 17" 17PS-2 CRT with my old box, use a 22" P225f CRT as
a second monitor with the 213T.
The 213T replaced a 21" ViewSonic P817 CRT.
ViewSonic has a very good rep for return/replace/repair/RMA etc
policies.
I had to use it once and it was basically "no questions asked".
The first person I spoke to authorized the replacement.

Happy trails,
