LCD crispness trouble

I have a 17" LCD. Its recommended resolution is 1280x1024 (or
something like that)... When I use that resolution (and after
adjusting large fonts/icons).. webpages and the such are too small
for reading and adjusting IE font sizes is no help.. Once suggestion
is to lower resol 1024x768. However, the font is not as crisp as
before and looks very slightly blurry - just enough to make it an
annoyance. I have toyed with cleartype and standard font sharpening
and I just cannot get the crispness that I want. Other people that I
know with the same size monitor can get crispness at this resolution.
Anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Many monitors (mine included) have a sort of "auto focus" which allows the
monitor to automatically achieve maximum sharpness for whatever resolution
it's on. Check your monitor's manual for this function.

Get ClearTweak from www.offroadsearch.com. It may provide the extra tools to
get the sharpness you're loking for.

My LCD panel runs best at 1280x1024. To make things more readable you have
a number of options. If you right-click on your desktop and go to
Properties / Settings / Advanced you can change the dpi from 96 to 120.
That will make everything bigger. If you just want to increase text size,
the easiest way is to go to Appearance in your desktop properties and
select Large Fonts in the Font Size box at the bottom of the panel. In
Appearance / Advanced you could also tweak text/icon sizes manually.

You can also increase the size of your mouse cursor in Control Panel /
Mouse / Pointers and choose something like Windows Standard (large).
