I have a Philips 32 inch LCD TV. I have a HDMI to DVI cable that conencts
to my PC. I can seem to get the resolution right, are there some generic
drivers I could use for widescreen TV's? I'm currently using 1280 by 720 bu
the tect is really messed up on the desktop, I I try other resolution like
1024 by 768 the I have the black border but the text looks ok. 1777 by 1000
is crisp but I need to have good eyes as it's all to small.

the philips website is no helpful for my Philips 32PFL5522

Is you computer display setting set at 60 hertz?
Operating system?
Graphic card?
Philips model number?

Simple answer is this, your graphics card may or may not be able to
reproduce the resolution for your TV... LCD or not, doesn't matter...
it comes down to the capabilities of the card... a new nVidia, ATI or
the like card will not work unless it supports a resolution that is
compatible with your TV... your TV is capable of a resolution of
1366x768, but your card can only do 1280x768...

If you set it to 1280x768 and the text is too small, change the text
font, icon size, all those things and you'll be there...

Did you ever think you would have to 'reverse' engineer a computer to
get it to work?
