layout changes from parent to child window

When I first open MSIE the layout of the tool and status bars is as it
should be. When I hit CTRL+N to open a second browsing window the layout is
all messed up. Why don't child windows open with the same layout as the
parent?

MSIE 6 on an XP Pro machine.

has ever managed to duplicate the exact circumstances under which it
happened, and many people have ended up looking very silly, or dead, or
both, trying."

That seems to be for HP systems only? I've got a Dell.

The AutoTKit issue applies only to HP computers.

Lock the Toolbars. If that does not help, Reset the toolbar position using the REG file in the site

I have the toolbars locked and they will randomly position themselves, most
notably the 'Links' section of toolbar will shift over to the far right
side - off the screen so I have to click the little down arrows to see them
(and then only as a drop-down).

I applied the REG patch and also manually deleted that key and the same
thing happens: the first instance of MSIE has the correct layout (but
sometimes with the status bar missing) but every window that opens with
CTRL+N is incorrect.
