Latitude XT extra lines

I work at a university helpdesk and one of our professors recently bought a
Dell Latitude XT tablet to use during his classes. The feature he has been
looking forward to is being able to write on slides while the presentation in
being displayed, but he has found that there are extra lines being drawn when
he writes, almost like it is automatically crossing-a-T for other letters,
though it also happens when he is just drawing on the slide. Any help would
be appreciated as there isn't a new driver from Dell yet.

I'm also at a university and we are having the same problem in the same
situation with a Toshiba Protege tablet PC. The extra lines appear only in
PowerPoint 2007 (not in other programs and not in PowerPoint 2003), and they
appear during testing in my office but not during testing in one of the
classrooms. Have you found any solution yet? We would just use 2003, where it
works consistently, but the professor wants to use features in PowerPoint
2007 that are not available in 2003.
