Latest xp pro updates

Last night windows update downloaded and tried to install the latest update
but the user that was still logged in was not an admin so the install failed
now pc will only run in safe mode and the update do not show up in the
add/remove list so we can't unistall. Tried last known good no luck tried
system restore to earlier date as an admin that didn't work. ANY IDEAS?

You might try obtaining the service pack on CD and then installing it that
way. Once you do get on, you may want to change the Windows Update settings.
