Always stay on top of updates but latest update KB832483
installs succesfully and even after rebooting when I
recheck it says that the update still needs to be
installed on my PC. Any ideas?

Try installing it in safe mode. You should also disable virus protection when
installing updates [which safe mode should]. --- Steve

I have the same problem with multiple installs of KB832483. However, I have also tried to update with my (McAfee) virus software disabled and under Win2K Safe Mode. In both cases the update appeared to work but the patch continues to appear in the critical updates section. Left to its own (automatic update) devices it seems to continue to install.

Most curious. I plan to call the 1-866-PCSAFETY number to wait on hold for a long while and then get disconnected...
