Last name first in Address Book

I had to reload Outlook 2003 and when I imported my contacts which became my
Address Book I now have my addresses listed by their first name instead of
last name. I have gone through Tool/Options/Contact Option and have set the
file as as last name first but it makes no difference. In my Contacts last
name is first but address book has things the other way around. Can anyone
give me a suggestion how to fix this? It worked fine before I reloaded.

Same as always: Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing
directories or address books > Outlook Address Book > Change… > Set your
sort order there

No. Importing and synching abide by none of the settings you create for
Contacts that are entered conventionally. Your choice: Avoid these methods
entirely for entering Contacts or put up with the limitations thereof.

Also, whenever I import contacts or sync with mobile etc they always
default
to last name, first name. can i prevent this?

To change the order from "Last, First" to "First, Last" you can use the
tool "ChangeNames"
