Last Good Known doesn't work

My W2K doesn't boot any more. I tried to restore the last good known
configuration but it suffered the same error: everything is fine till
the charging bar (charging windows) appears and the the screen suddenly
becomes black and the PC doesn't respond any more.
I also tried to Repair WIN2K with the Installation disk, but it doesn't
even find the right folder.
Is there any posibility to restore an earlier last good known?

Have you tried running a chkdsk /f from the recovery console?
