No. If a system boots *normally* then LKGC is still intact. The boot 3
times limit only applies when a system does *not* boot normally.
The registry contains one CurrentControlSet and 2 backups of it.
LKCG relies on the CurrentControlSet to load the software and hardware
settings that were previously loaded successfully.
If the system can not boot normally using CurrentControlSet, using LKCG
will defer to CurrentControlSet001.
If no joy, then it will attempt to load the remaining CurrentControlSet.
Which adds up to 3 chances to use LKCG.
Hmmm. I don't think it quite works like that, either the LKGC works or
it doesn't. In it sleeping state there is no Current Control Set, this
set only exists on a successfully booted computer, after the computer
has booted and after a user has successfully logged on the now existing
successful Current Control Set is copied over to the Control Set to be
designated as the LKGC, this happens every time a user logs on
successfully to the machine.
The LKGC is identified in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Select key,
logging on to Safe-Mode will not reset the LKGC, the LKGC will only
change (be copied over) after a user normally logs on successfully to
the machine.
