There is a multi-gig folder "BASE.WIM" in a temp file on my C drive. May I
delete this to open up the space, or do I need to leave it alone? Thanks in
advance.

I wouldn't delete that sounds like its a preinstalled image of your system
that is for recovery if you need to reinstall your Operating System and
Applications. How much disk space is it using? Is it a OEM Brand computer?
Did your come with recovery disk?

Thank you, Andre.
It is a new HP notebook running Vists Home Premium. The file is about 6.2
gigs. The drive came partitioned, with the D partition being locked off and
containing recovery software and data. I made a separate recovery disk using
an OEM-installed program. It's the fact that this is a temp file on the C
portion of the drive that makes me wonder if it could not be deleted.
