Laptop won't recognize verizon mobile office phone

My old laptop with windows ME worked fine with the Verizon mobil office but
the new Dell inspiron B 130 with XP will not let me successfully install
driver for my LG 4400 phone. Cannot get a dial tone and cannot connect
through USB port.
Verizon folks no help. They tried but don't know how to get around this. I
tried disabling all virus, firewall, etc. - no help.

sounds like you need new software for xp.
If it isn't available then your phone connect just isn't going to work.
