After quite a while since SP2 has been installed, I have tried to install a
new USB 1.1 device (Laptop has only 1.1 USB ports).

Diver was installed, a device has been attached and the laptop restarted.
The system did recognise that a new device is connected and was even able to
get it's name.
But then, all of a sudden, a material assistant wisard appears and proposes
to find a driver for the new device. At the and no driver is found (even if
all the means are tried) and the device (e.g. camera) is not installed and
appears with a yellow question mark in the harware list. All I can do - is
just to uninstall it. Re-installation comes to the same end...

Since then no new peripherials could be installed... The sympthoms are the
same as above. While all previously (before SP2, most probably) installed
equipment is still working perfectly !

Could somebody suggest anyting in this situation ? I would appreciate any
hints.

Thanks !

Actually I've already read this page... My problem is that previously
installed peripherals (printer, scanner) do function properly, so USB ports
seem to be OK, but new ones cannot be iinstalled... MIght be that Device
Mnager is somehow malfunctioning...
