Laptop unable tlo see outsie world

A client from another company wanted the internet via his laptop this
morning. The cable was in, the ip address was there, but internet explorer
kept coming up with "page not found" error with every web site i tried. I
put another laptop on from our company and it worked straight away. If this
happen again with no spare laptop, what settings should i look at with the
external laptop.

assuming you don't have proxy server blocking this laptop, I would check the DNS settings first.

OK thanks - how do i check the DNS settings - i know whatthey should be but i
don't know how to check/change them. I am using XP Pro
