laptop shuts down when opening up raw files with photoshop cs2

hi, i have 2 laptops the same models specs etc
athlon 6400
xp pro
1024 ram
80 hd

both have photoshop cs2 installed
only the one shuts right down after opening up a raw file to bring into
photoshop after using the ps raw converter .
i can bring a jpeg in edit it save it no problem .
the preferences are set to %55 ram to be used for ps .
i did a ram test from the companys support and it is fine .

i uninstalled and reinstalled ps cs2 it works fine right after that but
when i restart it , it will start shuting down again the same way .

any help please ?.
