I have a lot of lockups while using my computer. It happens a lot while I am
on line, but also when I am using Windows Explorer, which I use a lot. Can't
narrow it down to any particular action that causes it. Don't know where to
start. Using Win XP on a 6 month old Toshiba laptop. Have defragged, cleaned
up, removed some of the junk it came with. What can I try?

Hi

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any 'Errors'. If any are found could
you please post the Event ID and Source?

The sources all say "Application Hang". When I double click on it and allow
it to go to the web page for the error the only product is "Windows Operating
System", I checked at least a dozen of them. The Event IDs are 1000, 1001 and
1002. All say "application hang". The only way out is Ctrl, Alt, Del and I
always thought it was bad to do that a lot of times. Since the 15 of
December 2006 I have had 57 errors and 203 application hangs.

Here is one of the IE Errors ID 1002 - Hanging application iexplore.exe,
version 7.0.5730.11, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address
0x00000000. But this also says Windows Operating System.
