My laptop uses windows xp. I used to close my lid and the computer would go
in hybernation. I had a virus and had to re-install windows. Now I don't have
the "hybernate" option anymore in power options. Is there anything i can do
to re-install that option?
Thansk,

First of all, you need to have the motherboard chipset drivers installed for
ACPI (power management) to work. You may need to download these from the
vendor's site.

Then under the Power options in Control Panel, you may need to enable
hibernation (it should appear as a tabbed panel)

You should now be able to set the options for the power button and lid
switch, on the Advanced tab of the same applet.

after reinstalling the
o.s., you would also
need to download and
install the proprietary
drivers from the laptops
home site.

also while at the home site
for your laptop, there is
likely to be information
and instructions about
the drivers and the
power feature.
