laptop hangs when ac power get connected in win xp

I have a loptop it's a Clevo D400W. When I connect the AC power adapter while
I'm in win xp pro the system hangs. If I'm in Dos or connect the power befor
the windows logo has shown up while starting the computer. then there is no
problem.
Or if I connect the power befor I have started the computer.
What's wrong?

I use win xp pro sp 2

Does this laptop change CPU speed based on whether it running on
batteries or AC, or is there some other settings you have different
based in power source. Also contact vendor.
