i have a lCER Aspire 1360 laptop with an internal dvd drive. I recently
attempted to install some extra ram into it but found the ram faulty. After
taking it out and rebooting windows i could no longer see my dvd drive in
windows or dos. Windows search for new hardware does not find it and it does
not appear in device manager. Although the laptop is still in warranty i
thought there might be some quick fix that anyone will know.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Did you loosen anything? I've not been inside an Aspire in forever and a day
but IIRC to insert RAM you only needed to remove a central panel on the
bottom and they then snap in at an angle. There shouldn't be anything there
that would be moved about that would cause the ROM to stop working. That
would/should be way over on the other side? I'd take the cover back off and
have a look to see if there's anything loose. If no then it could be a
simple fix in that it's upper and lowerfilters.
