We have a wireless route that has all four ports taken
with desktop computers, all running on Windows XP. We
got a new laptop computer, also on Windows XP, and it can
get online but can't see any of the other computers in
the work group. It used to be able to; and then, one
day, just stopped being able to. Weird, I know.
We have tried for a week now to figure out what went on
and how to fix it, but have hit a brick wall. Does
anyone have any suggestions as to what to try or look
for? We are not computer pros, but are not total
novices, either. So any help offered, I would appreciate
it if you wouldn't talk way over my head. Thanks so much
for any advice you could offer.

.Thanks for the reply, but I have to say some of it is
over my head. I wasn't sure if they were only referring
to Windows ME or XP, too. There was mention in the first
link you gave to rebuilding a registry key and it said
something like (bin) NetClean: 01, (bin) Static: 00, etc.
and I had no idea what that meant. Also, I didn't want
to alter the registry if that was just applicable to ME.
I am stumped!!!

Lori,

is that Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional?

Thanks for replying. However, did some browsing on these
posts and found the solution. It had to do with using
two protocols, first of all, the TCP/IP with the IPX, and
having to remove the IPX, and when I did a ipconfig /all,
finding the node was operating Peer to Peer. So I went
into the registry and had to create the DWORD and set the
value, etc. It worked! So if anyone needs help in that
regard, they can reply and I will send them in that
direction of the postings that helped me. But thanks,
again, for getting back to me.

Lori,

thanks for reporting back! Always good to hear success stories.
