Laptop auto starting.

I have a HP dv6000 laptop which has taken to starting itself up at
apparently random times throughout the day.

I have been through the task scheduler, but nothing is configured to start
the PC up (it will also wake from hibernate and even boot up if shut down as
long as power is applied or the battery is left in (I didn't even know that
functionality existed)).

The event viewer confirms the time that the laptop starts up, but shows no
task starting immediately. After 5 minutes or so, tasks that would normally
run when the laptop boots up, start up (the usual things like virus file
updates). I have tried disabling these tasks, bu the laptop still starts up
though nothing appears to run.

I have scanned for malware but nothing has been found.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you checked the BIOS for any "Wake On" settings
that are configured as "Enabled"?

Indeed. Something that I should have added as having checked.
