Language Encoding

Ever since I've installed East Asian languages and the language bar, all of
the programs on Windows are encoded strangely and won't show the normal fonts
that are installed on XP.

EXAMPLES:
1) AOL Instant Messenger - The drop-down menu for Buddy List fonts only
shows a couple foreign fonts and doesn't show the staple Times New Roman and
Arial fonts.
2) Microsoft Word - All measurements are in cm.
3) Microsoft Internet Explorer - Web pages won't show up default in Unicode.
Even in Unicode, the fonts often look funky, with ? popping up ever so often.

I'm sure it's something basic I need to tweak, but I can't figure it out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff,

As far as Word, open Word > File > Page Setup > 'Paper' tab > Change the
'Paper type' back to 'Letter 8 1/2 x 11' > click Default in bottom left
corner > OK .
