Downloaded SP2 from Microsoft this morning and installed on my Compaq (3.2
P4 & I gig RAM) running XP Home without any issues. Took about 10 minutes to
install. Defrag, backup etc done before install as recommended.
One anomaly (maybe not) is that an icon for the local area network appeared
in the notification area with a message that I had limited connectivity and
that no IP could be found. I connect via ADSL and have a single box only. I
went into the LAN properties and unchecked "Notify me when this connection
has limited or no connectivity". Now the icon appears on boot and searches
for an IP and then disappears when I connect to ADSL.
I presume this is normal with SP2 as it never happened previously.
Incidentally, maybe I am imagining it but the system and IE seem to run a
little faster now.
