Lagging

I have a problem with something which I have no clue how to fix. Recently my
computer has been lagging or jumping or whatever its called. Well anyways
when I play music or a video or do anything in that general area, it will lag
every 2-3 minutes or so. I have a realtivily new computer (not even a year
old) and this problem has occured only recently which means I have not had
this problem before. I have tried refreshing my computer and doing everything
I possibly can yet it still occurs. Please help.

You need to find and identify the specific process or application that's
runs every few minutes.
You can do this with Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del key), select the
Processes Tab,
Next, click on the CPU column twice, this should bring the System Idle
process to the top (as long as
you are not using any other applications such as your music app.).
Then about every few minutes you should see another process
(the one that's slowing down your PC) float to or near the top of the 'CPU'
usage list.

For more exploratory and detailed look, download and try Process Explorer:

Once you have Process Explorer installed and running:
In the taskbar select View and check 'Show Process Tree' and 'Show Lower
Pane' options.
(This will provide the detailed info you need)
Next click on the CPU column to sort processes by %CPU usage.
Then click on the process of interest that's listed in the CPU % column,
once it's highlighted, right click and from the options listed select:
Search Online
This should display what out there on the web about that process.

Note: some entries like Explorer and svchost may need to be expanded to show
the detail,
(sub processes), in this case click on the + located to the left of the
entry.

Another tool that might help is 'What's Running'.

THanks for helping but i am aware of this issue. I am positive that's not wut
is causing the lag. MOst of the time it will be just one program going with
nothing else running in the backround and yet the problem occurs. If you have
any other suggestions i will accept those as well. Thank you for your help
though.

It's either a key-logger bit of spyware that's contacting the mother ship to
upload your surfing history or a trojan that's dumping another 250,000
emails.

Have you done an extensive check for malware?

Actually my computer just ran an anti-virus and there are no porblems as far
as viruses and those things. I am not that computer savvy as you might tell
so I just need an explanation of your computer lingo because I don't know
what a trojan, malware, or a key-logger contacting the mothership mean but
thanks for helping. I don't know maybe you are right. I will try it if you
can give me a little more detailed eplanation.

What do you mean by the term "refreshing my computer?" Are you referring
to the Refresh function in your Web broswer?

Do you regularly perform routine maintenance on your PC?

Other than audio and/or video, do you have any other problems? When you
say "play music or video," are you referring to streaming from sites
such as YouTube? What happens when you play music or video that has
already been downloaded onto your hard drive or off a CD or DVD?

What kind of Internet connection do you have?

For better help, please provide the following:

- make and model of your PC
- type/speed of your CPU
- amount of RAM
- size of your hard drive and amount of free space
