I think the poster was asking because of they were suspicious of the

Oh - I hadn't fully considered that! That'd be just what we need, a
flurry of rootkitting software from 'reputable' vendors! Talk about a
nightmare scenario (w/o getting into a whole discussion of what the
definition of rootkit *is*!! ).

The program came with my computer. Shortly after I installed it, Spybot
S&D detected Backweb on my system. When I saw that it had been installed
by Kodak, I called them on it.

without. I find it a pain to use and slow to start. Is there any
alternate software that can be used to quickly and simply transfer the
pictures?

I've used Paint Shop Pro for years, but they been bought up by Corel and
I haven't upgraded since version 8 (up tp 10 now I think). I'm sure
there's some good graphics/photo/paint editor on:

somebody's used and some of these and has a opinion.

Windows Explorer should be able to do it no? Normally, a camera hooked up
via USB shows up as a drive under Explorer, so ordinary drag'n'drop
operation should be doable.

After removing Backweb (easy to do with Spybot S&D), I find that the
"Enhance" feature in Easyshare make the program worth keeping around.

I have a Sony camera, when I connect it, it shows as a removable media.

I can either copy the images to the hard drive or work with them
directly in the camera' memory stick (but this is slower).

I think the same holds true for most other cameras.

I have a Sony camera, when I connect it, it shows as a removable media
device. I gave up on using the software from Sony, it is SLOW, limited
and has a poor user interface.
