Kodak Easyshare software no longer recognises my Camera after installing XP SP2

D

DaViD

I have just installed SP2 for XP Pro ,and now my Kodak EasyShare Dock and
Canoscan Scanner are no longer recognised by my PC.
Have tried all the normal fixed, scanned for viruses/hijack software,
installed my USB port drivers, hardware drivers from safe mode and
normal without any applications running in start-up or service (non-MS).
clean out the registry etc.. BUT with NO change at all.

Can anyone point me in the right direct please, as the next step appears to
be buy a new hard drive and reinstall.
TIA

DaViD

I don't have a specific answer for you
but maybe something in the following
articles will offer some clues:

(842242) Some programs seem to stop working
after you install Windows XP Service Pack 2
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842242

(884130) Programs that are known to experience
a loss of functionality when they run on a Windows
XP Service Pack 2-based computer

I wonder if uninstalling SP2 would solve
the problem.

Are you running the most current drivers
for your scanner and camera?

Maybe Canon and Kodak will release
updated drivers to address this issue:

I found the following in another newsgroup:

Go to Device Manager, uninstall the USB
Host Controllers, reboot and let windows
look for them.

Also the following article may offer some help:

Once again John I thank you, but again I had
tried that and all my devices have the correct cable.

That's interesting...I've seen two reports that
the following fix had solved the same problem
you described.

===
Go to Device Manager, uninstall the USB
Host Controllers, reboot and let windows
look for them.
===

If you discover the fix...please share it with
this newsgroup.
