Microsoft's extensive "knowledge base" has no response to
a query regarding "default folders" (or the singular
version). Am I using the wrong language here, or what? All
I want to know is how to get Windows XP to either A)
remember where I stored the last jpg file and use that
location the next time I want to save a jpg file from the
Internet, or B) allow me to set a 'default folder'
somewhere. I tried all my tweaking programs to no avail.
Also, along the same vain, how come checking 'remember
each folders view options' doesn't work? Sure hope someone
has answers for me. These are the kinds of things that
really bug people that can remember when Windows stayed
the way you customized it (count me in that group).

Really? Well ok. What about Microsoft Internet Explorer?
After deleting the temporary files, the next jpg I want to
right click save, the default directory is not what I
would like it to come up as. Can you tell me how to set
that default directory? Thanks.

It depends on the program.

Right. Which, if you're totally happy with the way
Microsoft wants you to do things, is fine. I just simply
prefer a different folder within my own file structure.
Therefore, I wish I could find out where in the reg that
default folder is specified. Thanks.

Seems to go to My Pictures.
