File extensions

Hi friends

I found that most pictures that opened with windows picture and fax viewr,
dont' open anymore. Shows an error message that says I don't have a program
assossiated to open the files. Wento to Control Panel-Tools-Folder option to
associate the default programe, and noticed that I dont' have .jpeg, or .jpg
extension files, only .jpe. Can´t add the extensions nor associate a program,
and don't understand why. What should I do ?

right click the pic.........open with........navigate to Pic &fax
Viewer........at the bottom click "always use this program"
This should automatically create what you are trying to accomplish manually

What happens when you try adding the extensions? Also if you right click on
a .jpeg or .jpg file and select open with can you select windows picture?

Hi

Windows doesn't let me add the extension. The "apply" button doesn't work. I
can select the program to open, but it doesn't make the application I choose
the default one, even with the box checked. I installed Irfanview and
everything seems to work, but the file extensions .jpg .jpeg .bmp are still
missing from the system.

When did the problem first occur? Did you try system restore? Download

Try fixing the file associations for JPE/JPG/JPEG at:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

What other file extensions are causing this problem?

Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, File Type and place cursor on File
Type in list scrolling down as necessary and select Change.
