KMODE_EXCEPTION ... ntoskrnl.exe

I need help with a blue screen KMODE_EXCEPTION error.

The machine has become EXTREAMLY unstable giving me the following error:

STOP: 0x0000001E (0xC0000005, 0X804D771DA, 0x00000000, 0x610032CC)
ADDRESS 804D717A BASE AT 80400000, DATE STAMP 384d5a76 - ntoskrnl.exe

Is this indicative of a corrupted kernel and if so how do I clean it up. The
machine wont stay upp more then a few minuets at a time. If it's not the
kernal but a hardware problem, What tools are available to trace the problem?

Thanks. There is a lot of software installed on this and I'd hate to have to
rebuild the machine. The data files are safely coppied to a USB drive I can
move to other machines.

Thank you in advance for any help

Hi Marshall,

Without loading up the dump file, it's going to be a little difficult to determine why this bugcheck occur in the first place.

So unless you know how to load a MEMORY.DMP file in a debugger and analyze it, the only option you have is to call Microsoft Product Support Services at the
toll free number below and request the next available Support Engineer in the Platforms Setup group analyzes it for you to determine what exactly caused the
bugcheck.

This is a good resource link if you're interested in downloading the debugging tools to learn analyzing the memory dumps.
